About the End User:

The College of West Anglia is one of the largest education and training providers in the East of England, offering a wide range of academic, vocational, and apprenticeship programmes. Alongside partner institutions - Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College, Harlow College, and West Thames College - the group is committed to delivering high-quality learning environments that are inclusive, forward-thinking, and aligned with sustainability goals. Together, these colleges serve thousands of students across multiple campuses, all requiring reliable and efficient IT infrastructure to support their academic success.

The Challenge:

To meet the growing demands of digital education while maximising budget efficiency, the group of colleges collaborated on a joint procurement strategy. The aim was to acquire a large volume of laptops and desktops with high performance and long-term reliability, while also prioritising sustainability and value for money. The challenge was to identify a supplier and solution that could deliver on technical requirements, scale, and environmental responsibility, all within tight timeframes and procurement standards.

Our Solution:

BSL-IT partnered with UK-based manufacturer VeryPC to deliver a tailored solution that met the colleges’ performance needs while aligning with their shared environmental goals. By supplying over 600 custom-spec VeryPC laptops and desktops, we ensured that the institutions benefitted from high-quality, energy-efficient devices capable of supporting diverse educational and administrative tasks.

Key highlights of the solution included:

  • Bulk deployment of over 600 units, coordinated across multiple colleges to ensure consistency and seamless integration.
  • Use of VeryPC’s Broadleaf range, specifically designed with sustainability in mind, featuring low power consumption, reduced carbon footprint, and environmentally conscious design from manufacture to end-of-life.
  • Custom configurations tailored to the specific needs of each college, balancing performance, durability, and energy efficiency.
  • Strong vendor collaboration, allowing us to secure competitive pricing while maintaining high specification standards across the deployment.

This unified approach not only delivered immediate operational benefits but also supported the group’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and digital advancement in education.
