Replacement of legacy VRtX system
About The End User:
Welland Park Academy is a thriving co-educational secondary school located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, catering to students aged 11 to 16. The academy is recognised for its strong academic results and a well-rounded approach to education that places equal emphasis on achievement, respect, kindness, and personal development. With a commitment to excellence and inclusion, the school offers a broad and balanced curriculum, supported by modern facilities designed to enhance the learning experience.
Challenge:
The school was facing growing performance and reliability issues due to an aging VRTX server system and a slow, inefficient backup solution. These legacy systems were struggling to keep pace with the school's evolving digital demands, including resource-heavy applications, growing data volumes, and the need for quick recovery in the event of data loss or system failure. The existing infrastructure was not only limiting day-to-day operations but also posing a risk to data integrity and continuity.
Solution:
BSL undertook a comprehensive modernisation of Welland Park Academy’s server and backup infrastructure. We decommissioned the outdated systems and delivered a robust and scalable Hyper-V cluster environment, designed to support the school's current needs while offering the flexibility to grow in the future.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Deployment of a Hyper-V cluster, providing high availability, improved load balancing, and efficient use of hardware resources.
- Expansion of the school’s core networking infrastructure, significantly increasing speed and reliability for both staff and students.
- Implementation of a modern backup and disaster recovery solution, enabling faster backup times, quicker restoration, and enhanced protection against data loss.
The result is a future-proofed IT environment that boosts performance across the board, reduces downtime, and gives the school confidence in the security and recoverability of its data.
